Founders can now scale with compute, meaning that survival no longer requires a staff of engineers aligned on vision, skill set, and knowledge transfer from the founder. Instead, a founder can build intelligent workflows with AI orchestration tools, shard knowledge about how the application works into multiple agents, and build out sprint boards just like they would with a founding team.
If compute can replace the initial scaling of the founding team, then companies will stay smaller. Meaning founders won't need to raise as much, if at all, to venture into uncharted waters.
Marketplaces have to be large enough for investors to see a large enough ROI. Without having to scale staff, I don't need as large of a marketplace to build my business. I can focus on solving problems for the customers I have, rather than trying to find a marketplace my product can plug into. This helps me refine my pipelines, workflows, and intelligent tooling further.
If you were going to spend a year hiring, training and preparing mid to senior level engineers for battle on the high seas and you're still early, it might be worth spending that time acquiring hardware, building intelligent primitives, and designing workflows that scale your impact in marketplaces you'd rather sail.
